Homeboyz Team Manager Boniface Imbenzi is backing his team to fly past 2009
league Champions Sofapaka and register their first win of the 2025/26 KPL
season when the two sides clash this Friday.
Homeboyz were
forced to a barren draw with Mara Sugar FC on Saturday but Imbenzi is confident
the boys can jumpstart their season at the expense of Batoto Ba Mungu.
“I think we have
prepared very well ahead of the Sofapaka match and I am aware they have played
so well in their first two matches and it’s a good team with much experience in
the league.
It’s a good team
and so we are taking it with much seriousness needed. The boys are psyched up
after playing their first match and I know we have gelled…hoping to win this Friday,”
Imbenzi said.
The 2023 FKF Cup
champions will be out to compete and chase their maiden league title this
season, though Imbenzi, is acutely aware that teams have bolstered their ranks,
and it will be no walk in the park.
“I know that a
lot of teams have upped their game by making top signings in preparations for
the new season so it will be tough for anyone to register maximum points and go
for the title.”
The team lost Brian
Eshihanda and striker Moses Shumah, last term but are confident of coping in
wake of new recruits.
Homeboyz sit 11th
on the log with a point having played only one match.
