Kilifi Beach Socccer Club head coach Billy Mwangemi said that with little support, the team has already shown great strides in the country and outside the borders.
"We are just eight months old but we have won a tournament in Zanzibar and also became runners up in Uganda in two different invitational tourneys," said Mwangemi.
His sentiments were echoed by the team captain who is also a former Harambee Sand Stars player Lucky Mrabu, who added that both county and national government should also focus on their infrastructure if the game is to make a splash in the country.
"We have travelled with the national team and see how our fellows out there have invested in this sports and help young boys to earn through it just like the normal soccer."
With beautiful and spacious beach lines along the coast, community leaders led by Mbarak Said Bashatir are optimistic of having big names and huge following only if both political and football leaders will put good structures for the benefit of our young ones.
"I have supported this team despite being far from my place but it is because they have shown a good intention to nurture their talents and if leaders we can have good plans, a lot of them will not venture into drug abuse and other bad things."
Kwale is the only county with a structured beach soccer league which goes on every weekend and can also feed direct the national team once needed.
