AFC Leopards have renamed their women’s side AFC Leopardess with immediate effect.

Club chairman Boniface Ambani says the change follows last year’s acquisition of FKF Women’s National Super League side Makolanders Ladies, whose players and technical bench were integrated into Ingwe’s women’s team.

Ambani notes that the move not only fulfills CAF club licensing requirements but also positions the club to tap into the fast-growing women’s football sector.

The chairman now requires the team to fight for promotion into top tier league FKF Women Premier League this season.

It’s no longer Makolanders FC but now henceforth it will be referred to as AFC Leopardess. You gave us this job and we are already working. It is just about agreeing and sitting down with the owners and everything is sorted. We now have no problem with that absolutely,” declared Ambani.

Meanwhile, Leopards have struck a partnership with the Kenya School of Law, giving the club preferential access to its sports grounds and other facilities at competitive rates.

We are supposed to pay Ksh.1,300 per day and then you (the former AFC Leopards led by Dan Shikanda) reject that offer and opt for a Ksh.12,000 per day deal which is not something good for the club,” noted Ambani.

So, I looked at these options and we made that decision to revive the Kenya School of Law partnership which will really help the team in a big way. We have to guard the badge and we need the best for the team, we have already closed that ground after agreeing with the management of that school and so we will use almost Ksh.600,000 to refurbish it ready for the boys,” he added.
