UoN Council appoints Margaret Jesang as acting VC, Kiama suspended for 3 months.

In a communique to the University Community, the council said Jesang, who was serving as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) would assume the new role for a period of 3 months. 

“That the  Vice Chancellor Prof.Stepehen Kiama Gitahi, has been suspended from office for a period of(3) three months  pending conclusion of disciplinary  process effective Friday , 2nd August 2024,” the council communicated. 

In the new changes, Prof.Ayub Njoroge Gitau was also appointed as acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs(AA). 

The changes follow a long-term push and pull between Kiama and the council. 

The embattled Vice Chancellor had in several instances sent on compulsory leave by the council. However, an adamant Kiama found his way back to the institution’s top seat despite the antagonism.
