Police in Narok County are investigating an incident in which two brothers attempted suicide by ingesting pesticides after a family dispute over a stolen cow.

According to a police report filed at Enoosaen Police Station, the incident occurred on Thursday at Olenteken area in Isampin location, Transmara West Sub-County.

The report indicates that the two, Michael Saini, 28, and his brother Steve Saini, 25, allegedly ingested Roundup (weed killer) and Oshothion insecticide after being confronted by their father, Joseph Saini, over claims they had stolen and sold a cow.

“It was established that the two brothers had a dispute with their father. They decided to ingest the said chemicals in an attempt to take their life,” the report read.

Police officers rushed to the scene, located about 15 kilometres east of the station, and found the pair unconscious.

They were taken to Transmara West Sub-County Hospital for first aid and treatment, where they are currently recuperating.

Two containers of pesticide were recovered at the scene and are being kept as exhibits as detectives continue their investigation.
