Two brothers hospitalised after attempting suicide following family row over stolen cow

Police in Narok County are investigating an incident in which two brothers attempted suicide by ingesting pesticides after a family dispute over a stolen cow.
According to a
police report filed at Enoosaen Police Station, the incident occurred on
Thursday at Olenteken area in Isampin location, Transmara West Sub-County.
The report indicates
that the two, Michael Saini, 28, and his brother Steve Saini, 25, allegedly
ingested Roundup (weed killer) and Oshothion insecticide after being confronted
by their father, Joseph Saini, over claims they had stolen and sold a cow.
“It was established
that the two brothers had a dispute with their father. They decided to ingest
the said chemicals in an attempt to take their life,” the report read.
Police officers
rushed to the scene, located about 15 kilometres east of the station, and found
the pair unconscious.
They were taken to
Transmara West Sub-County Hospital for first aid and treatment, where they are
currently recuperating.
Two containers of pesticide were recovered at the scene and are being kept as exhibits as detectives continue their investigation.
