Health officials have confirmed three cases of the Mpox viral disease in Nyandarua County.

One patient is currently admitted at Engineer Level Four Hospital, while two others—a couple from Ndaragwa—are receiving treatment in the isolation ward at Nyahururu County Hospital.

Laikipia County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services, Wagura Taiti, said the couple’s two children have also been placed under medical surveillance, although their initial tests returned negative results.

Health teams from both Nyandarua and Laikipia counties have been mobilised to respond to the cases. Contact tracing has already been carried out, with two relatives of the couple placed under home quarantine.

Taiti clarified that Laikipia County has not recorded any Mpox cases so far. He explained that the two patients were taken to Nyahururu County Hospital because it is the nearest facility equipped to manage such infections from Ndaragwa.
