Three men sentenced to life for robbing mobile phone and shoes worth Ksh.28K

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Brian Kutitila Wanyama, Japhnae Wanyonyi Mukalama, and Thomas Wakoli Malava were found guilty of committing the crime in Kajiado West on December 18, 2021.
Prosecutor Filah Martins provided evidence that the accused robbed Andrew Muthure Wairia of his Huawei Y9 mobile phone worth Ksh.24,990, a memory card valued at Ksh.3,995, and a pair of Reebok shoes worth Ksh.4,000.
Before fleeing, the trio is said to have beaten the victim and transferred Ksh.3,970 from his account to a number registered in Wanyama’s name.
The court ruled that the Prosecution had provided satisfactory evidence of the crime and sentenced the three men to life imprisonment.
Further, Wanyama was handed an additional two-year jail term for a separate offence of resisting arrest in Kajiado North on December 29, 2021.
Malava was also handed another life sentence for a different robbery case in which he, alongside other accomplices, violently robbed Patrick Kariuki of valuables amounting to Ksh.227,000.
Some of these include a smart TV worth Ksh.95,000, a Honda concrete vibrator worth Ksh.36,000, mobile phones valued at Ksh.44,000, and Ksh.50,000 in cash.
