Youth across the country are being urged to actively seize the opportunities provided by the Government to transform their livelihoods and contribute to national development.
Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Salim Mvurya affirmed that the numerous available opportunities are deliberate pathways designed to connect young people with government incentives and serve as a springboard for sustainable business growth and community transformation.
“Youth countrywide have a unique opportunity this week during the National Youth Week forums, currently underway across the country, to expose themselves to life-transforming prospects. His Excellency President William Ruto has been deliberate in ensuring an inclusive and empowered youth constituency,” said Mvurya.
The CS was speaking during the flag-off of a new vehicle for young entrepreneur James Mureti Mumo operating under NENO Sacco on the Embu–Malindi route and supported through the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF).
He commended the 29-year-old as an exemplary case study of youth progress, resilience, and proactive engagement with government programs.
“The newly flagged-off vehicle is the third in James’ growing fleet, a testament to what is possible when young people embrace innovation, remain consistent, and take full advantage of available support,” the CS noted.
Mvurya further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering youth through financial support, mentorship, and skills development, underscoring YEDF’s role in supporting young people who may otherwise struggle to access financing from traditional institutions.
He further highlighted initiatives such as the Labour Mobility Program and Kazi Mtaani, which enable youth to access both local and international employment opportunities.
“I urge all young people with ideas for setting up micro-enterprises to come forward and utilize the many facilities available through government programs. The youth of our country are symbols of transformation, progress, creativity, and innovation,” he stated.
The Government is rolling out public participation programs on youth-friendly policies, covering governance processes, legislative reforms, and national development discussions, underscoring that the youth are not only the future but also the leaders of today.
