Suspect in possession of contraband cigarettes arrested in Kirinyaga

One suspect was apprehended in Kirinyaga County on Tuesday after being found in possession of contraband cigarettes.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), a multi-agency team raided the suspect's shop following a tip-off from the public leading to the recovery of many assorted goods.
They included ninety-four (94) cartons of Supermatch cigarettes, eighty-nine thousand (89,000) bundles of polythene bags, four (4) opened cartons of Supermatch cigarettes, and sixty-four (64) packets of Oris cigarettes.
The suspect was taken into custody and is now awaiting arraignment. The seized items will be used as exhibit.
NPS maintained that it will not slow down on its fight against the sale of contraband items across the country.
