Detectives from Kasarani police station are holding six suspects in connection with the suspicious death of Victor Mwangi, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning on Lumumba Drive, Roysambu.

Preliminary forensic findings suggest Victor sustained blunt force trauma with multiple injuries on his body before his death.

Victor had last been seen in the company of some women on the fourth floor of the same building where he was later found motionless on the ground floor.

Investigators arrived at the apartment complex on Lumumba Drive, where the incident is believed to have taken place.

The fourth floor of the building is suspected to be the location from which Victor fell or was pushed while in the company of a group of youth.

Victor, in the company of several friends, had attended an event in one of the apartments in the building. A neighbour who sought anonymity recounted what transpired on Saturday, September 7, 2025.

“After he was taken out, I think some nonsense happened upstairs. There was a fracas, and it looked like the man was being forced down the stairs. He had been beaten while being accused of hitting someone’s sister. So the person who should be investigated is the one who was claiming to be the sister or the one being referred to as sister,” said the neighbour.

Surveillance footage shows a group gathered at the entrance of the building, with several young women entering and exiting repeatedly.

“I just heard them saying he was okay and that they should take him. Then the gate banged, and I heard wiping sounds at the gate, and I wondered what exactly was being wiped there,” another resident said.

Shortly after, an Uber vehicle is seen arriving and later leaving. The car was later traced to Jesse Kay Hospital, where Victor was admitted around 3:47 a.m.

CCTV captured a young man rushing into the hospital reception with blood on his upper clothing, accompanied by two other young men, one identified as the vehicle’s driver.

“It was on Sunday morning around 3:47 a.m. when an unknown adult male was brought to our emergency department unconscious. Our health team tried to resuscitate him through CPR, which was unsuccessful. He had no vital signs, and at around 4:27 a.m. he was declared dead,” said Peter Mwiruri, manager at Jesse Kay Hospital.

CCTV footage shows the man, later described in police reports as a good Samaritan, appearing uneasy during his time at the hospital. He was among the three people who had taken Victor to the facility. Hospital staff called the police after confirming Victor’s death.

A postmortem examination conducted at Nairobi Funeral Home revealed he had died from blunt force trauma, with injuries across his chest, face, and legs.

“I have seen what happened, and it pains me deeply. He is my only son, but I hope justice will be served and the culprits brought to book,” said Bernard Gachanja, Victor’s father.

“We are demanding justice because the way he died was brutal. His chest, face, and legs were badly injured and bloody,” said Stephen Mwangi, Victor’s uncle.

“We have been receiving such cases from Roysambu, so our emergency department is always prepared for these situations,” added Mwiruri.

The search for truth and justice for Victor Mwangi is far from over.
