Chesang, who also chairs the Senate ICT Committee, stated that leveraging content creators would not only empower young people but also increase Kenya's global digital footprint.
“Let us use content creators to talk about government projects, policies, and Konza to Kenyans, especially the youth. By giving them these tasks, we will not only be empowering them but also spreading to the world what the government is doing,” Chesang emphasized on Thursday during a tour of the Technopolis.
The legislator stated that once completed, the Konza Technopolis will serve as the driving force behind Kenya's digital economy, creating jobs and establishing the country on the global technology map.
“As Chair of the Senate ICT Committee, I reaffirm our commitment to supporting policies and legislation that will accelerate Konza’s growth into a world-class Smart City and a global hub for innovation under Vision 2030,” Chesang said.
He praised Konza as a model for public-private partnerships, emphasising its incorporation of green energy, affordable housing, special economic zone incentives, one-stop investor solutions, and an innovation ecosystem led by universities and research institutions.
“Together, we are working to position Konza as Africa’s leading Smart City, creating opportunities in ICT, investment, tourism, and industrialization,” Chesang added.
The senator had accompanied Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary (CS) William Kabogo, Tourism CS Rebecca Miano, and his Trade counterpart Lee Kinyanjui.
