Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has graduated top of his class with a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the United States International University (USIU), Africa.
Amisi, a second-term legislator from Trans Nzoia County, graduated
alongside another 1,500 students during USIU Africa’s 47th graduation ceremony.
“I graduate as a top student in Masters of Arts in International
Relations from USIU. GPA 3.913 out of 4.00. I thank God for this achievement,”
said Amisi.
The MP took to his social media platforms to reflect on his
journey from humble beginnings to academic excellence.
“25 years ago, an orphaned boy walked through the gates of
Starehe Boys Center and School armed with only a padlock. This was after
emerging the top student in Western region in 2000 KCPE exams, and with no hope
for high school fees, Starehe became the last hope,” he posted.
“Today, the same boy graduates as top student in Masters of Arts
in International Relations from USIU, amidst a convoluted political environment
coupled by the highly demanding public service work. We don't choose where,
when and whom to be born from, but we definitely have powers to choose our own
destiny. I thank the Almighty God for always guiding my life. If I can do it,
you can surely do it. Kenya needs a renaissance!”
Amisi, who has emerged as a key figure in the Kenya Moja Third
Force outfit that is positioning itself as an alternative voice in the
country’s political scene, said the degree will enhance his Parliamentary work.
“This will really help better my work especially in the
Foreign Relations Committee. Poverty is afraid of determination,” he said.
Currently, Amisi serves as a Member of the National Assembly’s
Defense, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee, Vice Chairperson of the
Public Investments Committee, and a Member of the Appointments Committee that
vets Cabinet Secretaries before their appointments.
He previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce from the
University of Nairobi.
