In a special Gazette notice, the nine nominees comprised former Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore (High Commissioner, Windhoek, Namibia), Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri  (ambassador, Ankara, Turkey), Lucy Kiruthu (ambassador, Bangkok, Thailand) and Henry Wambuma (ambassador, Bujumbura, Burundi).

Others included Abdirashid Salat Abdille (ambassador, Jakarta, Indonesia), Joseph Musyoka Masila (ambassador, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) and Edwin Afande (ambassador, Vienna, Austria).

Two Consuls General were also appointed: Jayne Jepkorir (Dubai, UAE) and Judy Kiaria Nkumiri (Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo).

Last month, Parliament's Defence Committee gave a green light to the nominees after conducting a rigorous vetting process early last month.

According to the Committee, the candidates possessed the requisite academic credentials, professional competence, and personal integrity to serve in Kenya's foreign missions.
