The 25-kilometre road, linking Juja and Thika constituencies, had stalled for two years after the contractor abandoned the site due to delayed payments.
Kalimoni MCA Godfrey Mucheke said the revival of the project is a crucial step toward improving accessibility and supporting local economic activities.
For years, residents along the route have struggled with poor infrastructure, making it difficult to transport farm produce, access healthcare, and carry out daily business. The terrain, marked by steep slopes and rocky sections near Komo, has made travel slow and expensive.
During an inspection of the project, Mucheke noted that once completed, the road will ease movement between the two constituencies, cut travel time, and open up the area for trade and investment.
Residents expressed hope that better transport will improve the market for their produce and attract business opportunities. The road is also expected to encourage real estate growth and raise property values in the area.
