Register with SHA for expansive benefits, Kindiki urges Kenyans

Prof Kindiki lauded the program launched by President William Ruto on Friday that saw the government settle monthly contributions for over 2.2 million indigent Kenyans unable to pay for the universal medical insurance.
‘’Yesterday (Friday), the President launched the program for indigent Kenyans, and initially 2.2 million Kenyans from 550,000 households have benefited," said Prof. Kindiki.
The Deputy President announced that the government has set aside Sh22 billion in this year’s budget for the treatment of all Kenyans who have registered with SHA.
‘’We are doing our best to equip our hospitals with the medicines and employ more medics. We will offer free outpatient services to all those who are members of SHA in all our 9,000 hospitals and health centres, which have been accredited by SHA. If you are not registered by SHA, you will have to dig deep into your pockets," DP noted.
He spoke on Saturday in Mashuuru Town, Kajiado East Constituency, Kajiado County, during Economic Empowerment Engagement for local Women Saccos, where over 70 groups benefited.
Prof. Kindiki assured the residents that the Government has embarked on infrastructure development, including the ongoing construction of two major roads in the area, one of them is the 66-kilometre Ilasit- Rombo-Chala- Njukini- Taveta and the planned recarpeting of the 63-kilometre Isara (Emali Junction)- Mashuuru- Imaroro road.
The Deputy President also highlighted the development programs being undertaken by the government that include the ongoing construction of 12 fresh produce modern markets in Kimana, Rongai, Ngong, Kitengela, Isilet, and Mashuuru among others.
The government is also constructing affordable houses in Kitengela, Ngong Vet Farm, Rongai, Loitoktok, and Kajiado towns, among others, where thousands of youths have been employed.
Last mile electricity supply projects worth 705 million are currently underway across all constituencies in Kajiado County to connect 3500 additional households and rural institutions. The amount will be increased to reach more people with access to electricity in the shortest possible time.
From it, Kajiado East has benefited from Sh105 million for 900 new households.
Leaders present were Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, former Governor David Nkedienye, Leah Sankaire (Women Rep, Kajiado), MPs Kakuta Maimai (Kajiado East), John Bwire (Taveta), Major Dekow (Garissa Township), Lilian Siyoi (Trans Nzoia County), Dorice Donya (Kisii County), Esther Passaris (Nairobi County) and a host of MCAs from Kajiado County Assembly.
