Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Geoffrey Ruku has issued a stern warning to corrupt public officers, calling on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to swiftly arrest all individuals implicated in recent graft reports.
Speaking at
Kirewe Grounds in Matuga Constituency, Kwale County, CS Ruku said the era of
looting public resources with impunity is over. He emphasized that no
government official—regardless of rank—will be shielded from accountability.
“I am calling
on the EACC to act decisively and arrest all those named in the reports. We
cannot continue protecting corrupt public servants. The President has made it
clear: integrity must prevail, and Kenya must be free of corruption,” he
stated.
Ruku
reiterated that President William Ruto has directed the clean-up of public
institutions to restore citizens' trust in government. He also urged the public
to play an active role in the fight against corruption by reporting rogue
officials.
“Do not fear
exposing corrupt officers. Even if it means contacting me directly or sharing
the information with relevant authorities—speak up,” he encouraged.
On the
ongoing hunger crisis in arid and semi-arid areas, the Cabinet Secretary
directed National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) to urgently map
out affected households so that the Special Programmes docket can intervene
effectively.
“The
President has put in place comprehensive intervention frameworks across 23
counties. No Kenyan will die from hunger—the government is fully alert and
responsive,” Ruku assured.
Highlighting
development priorities in the region, Ruku revealed that the government has
allocated Ksh.4 billion for the Kwale–Kinangop Road project, which he said will
significantly boost trade and improve transportation.
He also
pledged to fast-track the Last Mile electricity connectivity programme, stating
that every Kenyan deserves access to electricity. “Electricity is a right, not
a privilege,” he said.
CS Ruku was
accompanied by several leaders, including Matuga MP Kassim Tandaza, Kwale Woman
Representative Fatuma Masito, Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri, and Tharaka MP
Gitonga Murugara.
