President William Ruto has nominated former Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore as Kenya's ambassador to Windhoek, Namibia, as part of new appointments and redeployments in the Foreign Service.

In a statement issued by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Friday, August 15, the head of state made 20 overall changes to the Service, citing the need to optimise performance and enhance service delivery.

Among the High Commissioners and ambassadors, the President nominated Galma Mukhe Boru to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri to Ankara, Turkey,  Lucy Kiruthu to Bangkok, Thailand, Henry Wambuma to Bujumbura, Burundi and Catherine Kirumba Karemu to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The president submitted the applicable nominations to the National Assembly for consideration and approval, in line with the Constitution.

Bore was among the Cabinet Secretaries dropped during the reshuffle that followed the 2024 Gen Z protests.

Her political journey kicked off in 2012 after resigning as a teacher, where she unsuccessfully vied for the Kericho County Woman Representative seat.

She, however, managed to secure a job at Bomet County as the Director of Education in charge of Vocational Training until 2015.

In 2015, she was appointed by the government as a board member at the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) in charge of the Human Resource Committee.

She contested the Kericho Woman Representative seat again in 2017 and won, serving in the role until 2022.

During her time, she has served as a member in various Committees such as Welfare, Facilities, Sports, Tourism and Culture and Budgetary appropriation.
