President Ruto authorizes deployment of KDF officers to supervise construction of hospitals

Speaking in Narok County during the commissioning of Sogoo Level 4 hospital, Defence PS Patrick Mariru disclosed that the fully-fledged Hospital will be completed in 11 months.

The construction of Sogoo Level Four Hospital was an eyesore to President Ruto when he toured the area in May this year, prompting him to instruct KDF to upgrade it.

PS Mariru has however maintained that all unskilled labour will be drawn from the local community.

"The army will supervise the contractor. It is as clear as that. All the labour will be done by the youths in Sogoo. We will put two officers and every evening they will give me a report on the progress," he said. 

"We have over 75 projects we are supervising and it is not that we are replacing agencies of government we just want to partner with different offices among them the ministries of health and sports."

Area Governor Patrick Ntutu said that for a long time, the residents of Sogoo have been traveling to neighboring Bomet County to access medical services.

Ntutu said Sogoo was among the four Level Four Hospitals in the county. 

Governor Ntutu said President Ruto pledged to undertake the construction himself to completion through KDF. 

The County boss also disclosed that the settlers of Cheluget farm will soon get title deeds for the 5600 acres of land, and all Maasai Mau forest evictees will be resettled.

Ntutu also pledged to rehabilitate over 100 Kilometers of roads in the area to boost access during this rainy season.

PS Maririu added that the KDF has also been tasked to supervise the construction of projects in Siaya, Kapsabet, Dagoreti, Meru, Ol Kalou, Githunguri among others.
