The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a traffic advisory for Nairobi motorists ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarterfinals set for Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
In a statement, NPS said several roads will be temporarily closed and diversions put in place to ease congestion around the stadium and along the Thika Superhighway.
Motorists from Nairobi CBD heading to Thika Road (Ruiru, Juja, and Thika) have been advised to use Kiambu Road at Exit 4, with a roadblock set up at Muthaiga.
Those using the Thika Superhighway and heading to Mwiki are
directed to use the Ruaka–Baba Ndogo–Lucky Summer–Nairobi River–Mwiki route.
Vehicles from Thika, Juja, and Ruiru heading to the city
centre should use the Northern Bypass or Kiambu Road, with a roadblock
stationed at Ruiru Interchange.
Motorists from Githurai to Nairobi CBD are urged to use
Githurai 44–Kiambu Road.
Fans travelling from the city centre to the Kasarani stadium for the highly anticipated clash between Harambee Stars and Madagascar without vehicle access passes are required to use the service lanes at Exit 7 and Exit 8.
NPS added that additional officers have been deployed and warned that stern action will be taken against anyone flouting traffic rules.
