More than 200
exhibitors from 20 countries are set to converge in Nairobi from August 21–23
for the 9th edition of the AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition, showcasing the latest
innovations in agriculture, food processing, packaging, plastics, and paper.
The event,
organised by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry–Nairobi
Chapter (KNCC&I), the Institute of Packaging Professionals Kenya (IOPPK),
and UAE-based MXM Dubai Events, is expected to draw over 10,000 trade visitors,
including farmers, manufacturers, processors, distributors, technology
suppliers, and investors.
KNCC&I–Nairobi
CEO Christine Mwende said hosting such a wide range of exhibitors will open new
opportunities for Kenyan businesses to access global technologies and
expertise.
“The
AgroFood-PlastPack Exhibition is more than a display of products—it is a
marketplace for innovation and partnerships that can transform our agriculture
and food processing sectors,” said Mwende
Exhibitors will
present an array of solutions, from crop storage systems and feed technologies
to packaging machinery, poultry innovations, tissue production equipment, and
advanced plastics and polymer technologies.
The expo combines
three major segments: Agro & Poultry, Paper & Tissue Africa, and
PlastPack, allowing visitors to explore synergies across industries.
MXM Dubai Events
organiser Ahsan Rasheed said the choice of Nairobi was strategic, given Kenya’s
role as a gateway to the East African market.
“By bringing
together global exhibitors, we aim to deliver an event that not only showcases
best practices but also addresses Africa’s unique opportunities and
challenges,” he said,.
He noted that the
goal is to generate long-term value through signed deals, partnerships, and
ideas that boost food security, create jobs, and stimulate industrial growth.
The exhibition
will also feature technical workshops, investor roundtables, and
business-to-business matchmaking sessions designed to foster practical
engagement between exhibitors and local industry players.
IOPPK CEO Joseph
Nyongesa said the presence of international exhibitors alongside local
companies will provide a platform for sustained collaboration.
“This exhibition
will be a springboard for innovation, networking, and sector growth by merging
global expertise with local initiatives,” he said.
With agriculture
employing millions across the region and contributing significantly to GDP,
industry players say access to cutting-edge technologies from the exhibitors
could help farmers and processors improve productivity, reduce post-harvest
losses, and expand export opportunities.
