Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Carolyne Mugo issued the order following a request by the prosecution for three days to compile the report.
Rono, who has been charged but is yet to be released on bail, informed the court during Tuesday’s mention that he intended to apply for bond and pledged to attend all court sessions if granted.
“Your Honour, I am asthmatic and I am requesting to be taken to a medical facility for a check-up,” he told the court, further alleging that police officers confiscated his phone during his arrest.
Lawyer Danstan Omari, representing the former OCS, supported the prosecution’s request, terming the three-day delay reasonable. The prosecution indicated that the matter of the seized phones would be addressed during the next court session.
Magistrate Mugo scheduled the hearing for August 19 and ordered the investigating officer to be present to explain the phone seizure. She also directed that the accused be escorted to a hospital for medical examination.
Rono is accused of hacking the phone of former Central Police Station OCS Samson Talaam, a suspect in the murder of blogger Albert Ojwang.
Rono is said to have tampered with Talaam's phone, which was one of the devices in the forensic investigations by IPOA.
