The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has vowed to ensure that it clinches victory in all the positions it has fielded a candidate in the upcoming by-elections.
Speaking during the party's 20th anniversary, ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga said that the party is focused on ensuring MCA elections in Turkana, Samburu, Nyamira, Narok and Garissa are won by its candidates.
"I would like to call upon us to work together to bring more seats to the table," Wanga said.
"In 2022 we had 473 MCAs and for us to keep these numbers, we need to keep a strong party and that is why we are talking about how do we move to 600 MCAs in 2027. That is the strength we need to push and it starts with the by-elections."
The party is gearing up for the much anticipated mini polls slated for November 27, 2025.
Wanga, also the Governor for Homa Bay, noted that the party prides itself in etching its name in Kenyan politics having dominated political representation in some of the regions in the nation.
"We celebrate 20 years of resilience, growth and political stability that has nurtured young politicians into political heavyweights and has also built a strong political institution that has continued to grow by the day," she added.
Wanga also intimated that the party is set to launch the Raila Odinga Academy of Leadership during the party's youth event set to be held in Mombasa.
"We will be launching it so that we will have a real academy that will bring forth even more leaders," she added.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to conduct 24 by-elections and each political party intending to participate has been instructed to submit the names before Wednesday, September 17.
Further, any public officer intending to contest must resign from their office within seven days of the notice.
