Speaking during a public engagement in Riandu, Ruku refuted allegations made by former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti, who had accused the government of using state resources to sway voters in favour of the ruling party's candidate.
“Nobody is buying votes,” Ruku stated. “The people of Mbeere North are supporting Leonard Muthende because they believe in his vision and leadership, not because of handouts. Kivuti should stop misleading the people of Mbeere with baseless propaganda.”
The CS accused Kivuti of using diversionary tactics to discredit both the government and its preferred candidate.
Ruku also took aim at Kivuti’s political record, urging him to reflect on his own shortcomings rather than point fingers.
“Instead of hurling accusations, Kivuti should ask himself why he has failed twice in his bid for the Embu governor’s seat. Leadership is about connecting with people, building trust, and maintaining relationships,” he said in a veiled jab.
Addressing concerns raised by Kivuti about government neglect in Mbeere North, Ruku pointed to the ongoing tarmacking of a major road that passes near the former senator's home.
“How can someone claim the government is doing nothing when a road starting right at his gate is being tarmacked?” posed Ruku. “Such statements are not only misleading, they’re laughable.”
The CS appealed to the residents to remain vigilant and not fall prey to what he termed as politically motivated narratives intended to divide the community.
He rallied support for the Kenya Kwanza administration to ensure development projects continue across the constituency.
