A new telemedicine platform targeting men’s health has been launched in Kenya, aiming to address long-standing barriers that prevent many men from seeking medical care.

His.Doctor, a digital wellness service specializing in male health, has partnered with Tibu Health, an omnichannel healthcare provider, to provide confidential consultations and same-day delivery of prescribed medication through mobile and web platforms.

Data from the 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey shows that fewer than one in three men seek regular medical care, while only 21 percent of those experiencing depression or anxiety receive treatment. The reluctance is particularly evident in sexual health, where men aged 25 to 45 are twice as likely as women to delay seeking medical attention.

The platform seeks to overcome these barriers by offering private consultations via WhatsApp, SMS, or the web, with prescriptions fulfilled through local pharmacies and delivery partners.

Initial research involving 2,000 Kenyan men found that 68 per cent would consider virtual health services if confidentiality was guaranteed. His. Doctor has built its model around this finding, emphasising discreet registration and secure medical records.

The service will initially operate in urban areas before expanding nationwide. Available services include mental health support, sexual wellness consultations, and chronic disease management.

According to Tibu Health, the partnership is designed not only to treat illness but also to encourage prevention by making healthcare more accessible and less stigmatised.

The initiative highlights how digital health solutions are being adapted to address cultural and structural challenges in Kenya’s healthcare system, with the potential to influence approaches across the region.
