A woman has been arrested in
Bondeni, Nakuru County for allegedly supplying cannabis and
cannabis-laced cookies to minors in what
authorities describe as a deliberate attempt to lure children into drug abuse.
The arrest was
made on the night of August 11, 2025, during a targeted enforcement operation
by the National Authority for the
Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA). Acting on
intelligence reports, a NACADA-led team raided a suspected drug den in Bondeni,
where the woman was found in possession of several rolls of cannabis and
cookies infused with the drug, allegedly prepared for distribution to young
people.
Preliminary
investigations indicate that the suspect’s husband is the alleged mastermind of
a trafficking network that supplies narcotics to children in the area—a
practice officials say poses grave risks to their health, safety, and future.
NACADA Chief
Executive Officer Dr.
Anthony Omerikwa condemned the incident and vowed to dismantle
the entire network.
“We will not rest until every
individual involved in the narcotics trade faces the full force of the law.
This arrest is just the beginning; we are pursuing all accomplices to ensure
this network is completely dismantled,” he said.
The seized
contraband, including the cannabis-laced edibles, underscores the disturbing
tactics traffickers use to target minors. Authorities say such products are
designed to disguise the drugs and make them more appealing to children.
The suspect
remains in custody as investigations continue. NACADA has urged members of the
public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activities
through its toll-free lines.
