A man has been charged before a Nairobi court with forging a Kenya
Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate to secure employment at
the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.
Michael Kilonzo Mualuko is accused of forging a KCSE certificate number
2865975 in his name, purportedly issued by the Kenya National Examinations
Council (KNEC) and bearing index number 301210/036 from Bishop Ndingi High
School.
The prosecution told the court that the accused committed the offence on
unknown dates and places within Kenya, with the intent to deceive.
In the second count, Mualuko is alleged to have knowingly uttered the
forged KCSE certificate on May 3, 2013, at the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage
Company, claiming it was genuine. The court heard that he used the document to gain
employment at the company.
The third count states that on October 27, 2015, and again on July 18,
2016, at the company’s offices in Nairobi, the accused deceived his employer by
falsely declaring in his personal information form that he held a KCSE
certificate with a mean grade of C+ from Bishop Ndingi High School.
Investigators later established that the information was false.
He faces charges of forgery contrary to Section 345 as read with Section
349 of the Penal Code and deceiving a principal contrary to Section 41(2) as
read with Section 48 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, 2003.
Mualuko denied all the charges before the court. The prosecution said it would present witnesses from KNEC and the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company to testify against him.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was released on cash bail of Ksh.100,000 or a bond of Ksh.1 million. The court will reconvene for mention on October 22nd.
