Man killed by stone crusher at gold mining site in Siaya

Police in Rarieda, Siaya County, are investigating the death of a 23-year-old miner who was killed by a stone crusher at a gold mining site in the area on Thursday evening.
The man,
identified as Wycliffe Oduor, died instantly after being crushed by the machine
at Miriha village within North Ramba sub-location.
According to a
police incident report, Oduor was operating the stone crusher when it
accidentally malfunctioned and fatally injured him.
Members of the
public notified the area Assistant Chief, Mr. Maurice Omondi, who in turn
alerted officers from Ndori Police Station.
The officers visited the scene and later moved the body to Lwak Mission Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
