Police in Migori County have arrested a 35-year-old man accused of
killing a 30-year-old man over Ksh. 250 at Kadera-Kuoyo village in Awendo
Sub-County.
The suspect, identified as Milton Onyango Omuga, was arrested
after the body of the deceased, Tyson Ongacho, was found within their
homestead.
Kadera-Kuoyo location acting Chief, Mr. Vincent Omondi, said the murder
was reported by the suspect’s father, Elijah Omuga, who discovered the
body of the deceased lying in his compound.
Omondi said he managed to apprehend the suspect, Milton Omuga, and handed
him over to the police despite attempts by members of the public to lynch him.
He added that angry residents raided the suspect’s home and torched two houses
along with other property.
Although the cause of death is yet to be fully established, the area
chief said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and the
deceased had been fighting over Ksh. 250.
Awendo Sub-County Police Commander, Julius Kemboi, confirmed that the suspect is in police custody pending further investigations into the incident.
