Heated exchanges were witnessed during Monday evening’s
Machakos County Assembly sessions after county chief officers failed to appear
before the House to respond to questions on the methods they have been using to
hire staff.
The Minority side, led by Kinanie/Mathatani Ward
Representative Francis Kavyu, seized the opportunity to lash out at the
Majority side over what he termed as a lack of transparency in the county
government’s recruitment of workers.
Speaker of the Assembly Ann Kiusya has now directed the
Public Service Committee of the Assembly to prepare a report on the allegations
of irregular hiring in the county government and table it within 21 days.
“The statement sought by Hon. Ngunga is hereby referred to
the Labour and ICT Committee, to report back within 21 days,” Kiusya said.
