In the suit filed through P.W. Wena & Company Advocates, Miller the proprietor and managing partner of Miller & Company Advocates — accuses Amenya of publishing false and malicious claims on August 12, 2025, via his X (formerly Twitter) account, @amenya\_nelson.
Miller says the article, which was allegedly widely circulated on social and electronic media, attacked his reputation, personality, credibility, and professional standing, portraying him as a dishonest person, a thief, and a lawyer who overcharges clients for dubious or non-existent cases.
He alleges that Amenya acted maliciously and out of spite, publishing the claims without verifying their accuracy, ignoring demands for clarification, and failing to retract or apologise.
According to the pleadings, the post was intended to lower his standing in the eyes of friends, peers, professional colleagues, and the public, subjecting him to ridicule, contempt, and suspicion.
The lawyer is seeking a permanent injunction to bar Amenya, his agents, or associates from making further defamatory publications, an order compelling the removal of the post, and general, aggravated, and exemplary damages, plus the costs of the suit.
Miller says no previous proceedings exist between them over the same subject matter and accuses Amenya of publishing the remarks knowing they were false and damaging.
"The contents of the said article and the words used therein in their natural and ordinary meaning were not only malicious but were also defamatory to the Plaintiff and were meant and understood by the right thinking members of the public to mean that the plaintiff is a dishonest person and more so a dishonest professional," reads court papers.
Miller further says that Amenya allegedly published the article without seeking to verify the truth from him.
"As a direct consequence of the said article, the plaintiff has been ridiculed and his reputation, character and standing lowered in the minds of his friends, peers, professional colleagues and right-thinking Members of the Society," reads court papers.
