Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reiterated the government’s commitment to develop every part of the country without discriminating against any area.

The DP said all Kenyans deserve development dismissing those in the opposition who are pushing for discriminative allocation of national resources.

“Every part of Kenya deserves development. The government belongs to all Kenyans and no one can be denied development because they come from a particular region or tribe,” said Prof. Kindiki.

The Deputy President spoke on Friday during Taita Taveta County Economic Empowerment held in Wundanyi town.

He said the politics of distributing resources according to how the people voted are over, saying the Kenya Kwanza Administration will not allow such.

“Those who are busy telling Kenyans that they must have shares to benefit from development should know their days are numbered. Taita Taveta will never lag behind in development because you have every right to development,” he declared.

He added that Taita Taveta, like all counties, will continue to benefit from the government inclusive development agenda as he outlined several initiatives funded by the government in the area.

Among them are revival of roads that had stalled for years including Taveta-Njukini-Rombo-Ilasit which connects Taita Taveta and Kajiado Counties. It is 66km long, will cost Sh8.4 billion and is set for completion by 2027. Another ongoing project is Taveta-Njukini-Mto Mwagodi Road.

“The President is aware of the importance of this road which will connect Taita Taveta and Kajiado Counties that is why he has instructed it to be hastened and completed before the next elections,” DP said.

Taita Taveta is also a beneficiary of affordable housing and modern markets projects ongoing across the country. Markets in Taveta and Voi constituencies have been completed awaiting official opening. More are set for commencement in Voi and Wundayi in the coming months.

Affordable houses are also coming up including 800 units in Wundanyi constituency which will be worth Sh2.3 billion.

Last-mile electricity connection is also being expanded in Taita Taveta County which has received Sh770 million to power 8, 500 households. The DP promised that the government will raise allocation to Sh1 billion to increase connection to 10, 000 homes.

“Our competitors will have a rough time competing with us because they have nothing to show Kenyans. They have occupied powerful positions before but they did not do anything but to sell tribal talk, shares and other regressive things,” DP said.
