Kasipul parliamentary aspirant, Newton Ogada, who unsuccessfully contested for the ODM party ticket wants the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to repeat the nomination exercise that was conducted in the constituency last week on grounds that it was not free and fair.

Ogada claimed the nomination exercise had numerous cases of irregularities.

This was after cases of violence were recorded in different areas in the constituency and several vehicles damaged by goons.

ODM declared Boyd Were as the winner after garnering 18,210 votes followed by Ogada with 3,037 votes.

Addressing the press in Oyugis Town on Monday, Ogada said that hired goons stormed polling stations, flushing out voters and went further to mark ballot papers to inflate figures.

He said that the whole process had confusion days before people moved to the ballot. According to Ogada, voters  who turned out  for the exercise were not exceeding 7000, wondering where ODM got the figure to announce the winner with 18,210 votes.

He called on ODM leadership to take immediate and decisive action including investigating and bringing to book those behind the violence and irregularities. Ogada wants a repeat of the nomination process and the party to institute reforms to prevent a repeat of what happened.
