The dialogue brought together over 120 participants, including entrepreneurs, ecosystem support organizations, financial institutions, county officials, and private sector actors. Discussions centered on opportunities and challenges across manufacturing, green economy, agriculture, technology, financial services, infrastructure, blue economy, and water and sanitation (WASH).
Highlighting Role Models and Sector Opportunities
Twenty-five women and youth entrepreneurs shared their experiences, while panel sessions examined barriers such as access to finance, market entry, and systemic biases. County officials expressed their commitment to improving the business environment, and the Micro and Small Enterprise Authority (MSEA) outlined efforts to ease business registration, financing, and market access.
Breakout Sessions and Recommendations
Sector-focused breakout sessions identified recurring challenges, including limited funding, weak networks, and skill gaps. Proposed solutions ranged from peer learning platforms to digital market tools and cooperative financing. Participants called on government, industry associations, and development partners to play a stronger role in addressing these gaps.
Magdaline Chepkemboi, Founder and Executive Director of EldoHub, said the program is helping to raise the profile of young and women entrepreneurs in the region. Nduta Ndirangu, Project Manager at SNV Kenya, highlighted the importance of networks and mentorship in building inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystems.
