The commission will launch the exercise in Kajiado County, and is expected to cut across other counties.
Voter registration had been suspended in June 2022 ahead of the August 2022 polls.
The Commission targets to register 6.3 million new voters, who have attained the age of 18 and those who have not previously registered as voters, as well as facilitating voters who wish to transfer their registration details to different polling stations.
Speaking on Citizen TV DayBreak on Monday, IEBC Commissioner Alutalala Mukhwana stated that eligible voters are required to present their original national identity card or a valid Kenyan passport to register at constituency IEBC offices and all Huduma Centres countrywide.
“This is an official launch to mark the onset of the continuous voter registration, from today the excess will be opening all the constituency countrywide,” Mukhwana stated. “In every 290 constituencies, IEBC has an office where the voter registration will be taking place.”
Mukhwana noted that on August 8, 2025 the Commission had announced the continuous voter registration, which is the dictate of the constitution but regrettably the secretary was unable to continue with the registration.
“And therefore, we have resumed the voter registration in accord with the requirement of the constitution.”
In addition, Mukhwana noted that the Commission is compliant to the data protection laws and the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS) kits ensure accuracy.
“Unlike the previous kits, the KIEMS-kits scan and capture all the bio data of the voter, thus it is accurate than when done manually. The information is transmitted to IEBC data bases and thus no possibility of wrong data. The data is cleaned to ensure that the died do not vote,” noted Mukhwana.
