The Multinational Security Support Mission to Haiti (MSS-Haiti) has confirmed the identity of the Kenyan police officer who died in a road accident during a peacekeeping operation on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

According to MSS-Haiti, the fallen officer was Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve, 41, a member of the National Police Service’s Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU).

He died following a crash along the Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at Perlerin 9 and was pronounced dead at Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville.

MSS-Haiti noted that Corporal Nzuve, born on March 8, 1984, in Machakos County, joined the police service in 2005 and served in various parts of Kenya, including Narok and Baringo counties, before deploying to Haiti as part of Kenya’s third contingent to the mission.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, personnel from Kenya, the Bahamas, Jamaica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and partner organizations including DMG, Amentum, Aspen, and GardaWorld gathered at LSA1 in Pétion-Ville for a memorial service in his honor.

His remains were later flown to the Dominican Republic for preservation ahead of repatriation to Kenya.

According to MSS-Haiti, several peacekeepers were injured in the accident but are out of danger.

The mission also expressed gratitude to the Forces Armées d’Haïti (FAd’H), the Haitian National Police (PNH), local residents, and fellow officers who provided emergency assistance at the scene.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Corporal Nzuve’s family, friends, and colleagues as they grieve this profound loss. His dedication to duty will remain forever in our hearts,” MSS-Haiti said in a statement on Tuesday.
