The crash involved a school bus which was ferrying mourners from Nyahera to Nyakach in Kisumu County when it rolled at the Coptic blackspot while trying to maneuver a corner.
While visiting the survivors at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching & Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) on Saturday, Prof. Nyong'o urged the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to undertake the road restructuring to avert similar incidents.
He further called on well wishing citizens to avail themselves and donate blood to the survivors.
Meanwhile, family members of those killed in the tragic accident continue to mourn their loved ones as they wish quick recovery to those still admitted.
Twenty-two out of the 26 who perished reportedly come from the same clan, Korwa, in Koguta Nyakach Sub County.
Relatives of the departed have recounted last moments with their loved ones even as they keep hoping that the survivors get full recovery.
Mary Achieng' said their family generation has been wiped out in the accident and has left them in utter shock.
The death toll from the tragic bus accident rose to 26 on Saturday morning after one of the five passengers in critical condition succumbed to injuries.
At the time of the accident, the fatalities included 10 men, 10 women and an eight-month-old baby. Twenty others were rushed to JOORTH among them 5 in critical condition.
At least 28 others who were injured in the crash remain in stable condition and are awaiting surgeries.
The government has pledged to cater for all medical costs as well as burial expenses for the victims.
