Born in Sotik, Kibet grew up in a community where running is a culture, heritage and source of pride. Inspired by legendary athletes, he cultivated discipline and resilience that now defines his athlete career and personal journey.
According to Kibet, his journey from Sotik to United State of America represented a dream fulfilled and life transformation through talent and determination.
Kibet attended Tenwek High School before moving to University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky. There he competed for the Patriots in cross country and track, earning recognition as a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American in cross country, placing him among the nation’s top collegiate runners.
Furthermore, he has competed in events such as the Firecracker 5K in Huntsville, Alabama, and the Kalenjin Heritage 5K; highlighting him as a cultural ambassador.
His platform ‘Kibet Official’ champions sports as a powerful tool for health, empowerment and education, inspiring young athletes across Africa and beyond to pursue their dreams.
For Kibet, running is more than speed or medals — it is a philosophy of endurance. He believes the lessons of athletics — patience, resilience, and hard work — apply to all aspects of life.
Kibet’s long-term vision includes building programs that empower the youth, demonstrating that sport can be a pathway to personal growth and community transformation.
