The family of a 13-year-old schoolgirl in Homa Bay is demanding justice following her brutal murder in Rabuor Village in Mbita, Homa Bay County.
The victim was a Grade
Seven pupil at Kamsama Comprehensive Primary School.
According to her family,
she was last seen on Monday afternoon walking home from school for lunch but
she never made it home.
Her father, Silas Otiko,
says the shocking incident has left the family traumatised. He adds that her
siblings are now too afraid to attend school, fearing for their safety.
Other relatives, including
Christine Atieno, have echoed his sentiments, calling on the Directorate of
Criminal Investigations to move swiftly and bring those behind the heinous act
to justice.
According
to Mbita Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Peter Mutiso, the girl was
attacked by unknown criminals shortly after parting ways with her classmates on
her way home, only to be found dead on Tuesday.
Police
officers who visited the scene confirmed that acid had been poured on her face
and private parts, with preliminary investigations suggesting she was defiled
before being killed.
Her lifeless body was later
discovered dumped by the roadside.
