Ex-Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Julius Njiiri dies

Kirinyaga County’s first deputy governor Julius Njiiri has died. 

Peter Karinga, a brother-in-law to the former deputy Governor and Tebere Ward MCA said Njiri died on Sunday night.

Julius Muthike Njiiri deputized Kirinyaga’s first Governor Joseph Ndathi, who served between 2013 and 2017.

According to MCA Karinga, his brother-in-law Julius Njiiri died in Mwea mission hospital.

“He died at the age of 65. Right now we are meeting at Ngurubani town and  his home at Kiamanyeki village,” said Karinga. 

Several elected leaders in Kirinyaga county led by Kirinyaga Senator Murango Kamau have sent their condolences. 

“His towering legacy as a leader, his humility, and his unmatched dedication to the people of Kirinyaga will remain an enduring inspiration. Hon. Njiiri laid firm foundations upon which our county continues to grow, and his name will forever be written in the story of Kirinyaga,” said Murango.
