A traffic police officer in Embakasi has sustained injuries after an attack from a matatu driver attached to Embassava Sacco.

Jackline Naeku, the police officer, was doing her traffic duties at TAJ Mall area when she noticed that the 14-seater matatu driven by Jared Nyanduro Onyancha had no service licence.

Jackline Naeku, the police officer, was doing her traffic duties when she noticed that the matatu had no service licence.

She entered the vehicle and instructed the driver to drive to Embakasi Police Station, but he threatened to end their lives.

On the way, Nyanduro hit a stationary vehicle, continued driving recklessly, and then drove towards an electric pole.

The vehicle was, however, diverted by some flower vases, and it fell on its side.

"She managed to come out of the vehicle and the driver followed her and started beating her with kicks and blows," states a police report from Embakasi police station.

Naeku was rescued by the public before the police arrested the suspect and took him to the Embakasi Police Station.

At the police station, Nyanduro went on to confront and assault another police officer, Samuel Njuguna, at the search room and bit him on the left hand where he sustained injuries.

The officers were treated at separate health facilities and discharged while the suspect is in custody, waiting arraignment.
