Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers based in Nakuru have arrested a Bomet County Assistant County Commissioner for allegedly demanding a bribe of Ksh. 20,000.
According to
the EACC, the operation targeted Emkwen Division Assistant County Commissioner,
Martin Vaslaus Jakoyo, who was apprehended and booked at the Bomet Central
Police Station.
A police report
from Bomet indicates that the administrator was accused of soliciting Ksh.
20,000 to settle a dispute between two villagers—a case that had already been
resolved by the local Nyumba
Kumi elders.
Following his
arrest, several chiefs from Bomet Central Sub-county, who requested anonymity
due to the sensitivity of the matter, accused the suspect of undermining their
efforts to combat illicit brews in the area. They also alleged that he had been
using his office to advance personal interests.
