Speaking during a public forum at Mbarwari Secondary School in Muminji Ward, Ruku asserted that his role is to ensure the equitable delivery of development across the country.
“I will not stop reaching out to the people of Kenya with development. That is my responsibility. No amount of criticism will stop me,” he stated.
Ruku, a former Mbeere North MP, reiterated his support for UDA’s candidate Leonard Wamuthende, describing him as a leader who embodies continuity and alignment with President William Ruto’s administration.
“Wamuthende represents a future of progress for Mbeere North. For us to unlock more development, we must work in tandem with the national government,” he said.
Reflecting on his tenure as MP, Ruku reminded residents of his commitment to inclusive leadership, particularly in education.
“I never sidelined anyone based on clan lines. I ensured bursaries were distributed equitably because education is the greatest equalizer,” he said.
He highlighted a raft of ongoing and upcoming projects in the region, including the Gikuyari–Muminji–Kirie–Ishiara road upgrade and the Kiambeere Mega Water Project, which aims to deliver consistent access to clean water across Kiambeere, Mutito, Kirie, Iria Itune, Ndurumori, and other areas of Evurori Ward.
Ruku also announced that President Ruto is expected to officially launch the Kiambere Dam Bulk Water Project, a transformative initiative targeting communities in Kiambere, Muminji, and Evurori wards.
“This project will resolve longstanding water shortages and significantly improve livelihoods in the region,” he noted.
Additionally, Ruku outlined progress on eight electrification projects currently underway in the constituency, which aim to expand access to power and stimulate local economic activity.
The Cabinet Secretary warned residents against leaders he accused of sowing division for personal gain.
“Do not allow selfish individuals to divide you for their own survival. The interests of Mbeere North must come first,” he urged.
Turning his focus to the opposition, Ruku dismissed their criticisms as “empty rhetoric,” claiming they offer no viable alternatives for the region’s development.
“Those who want to take us back to ‘Wamunyoro’ should forget. They have nothing new to offer. Their only agenda is self-enrichment,” he said.
Ruku concluded by rallying Mbeere North to stand firmly with the government, affirming President Ruto’s commitment to the region.
“The people of Mbeere North will not be left behind. Let us stay united and work with a government that is delivering results. The President has a special place in his heart for this constituency,” he said.
