ACT awards to celebrate Kenya’s tree planting and conservation heroes

The ACT Awards aims to recognize, mobilize, create awareness, and amplify innovative solutions in tree growing while accelerating progress toward Kenya’s target of growing 15 billion trees and achieving 30% tree cover by 2032.
Speaking on behalf of Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Alex Lemarkoko, Principal Senior Deputy CCF, Dr. Clement Ng’oriareng underscored the importance of tree planting as a symbol of hope and resilience.
“One who plants a tree plant hope,” he said.
ACT Award initiative seeks to celebrate individuals, institutions and organizations both public and private that have made outstanding contribution to tree growing and conservation aimed to accelerate momentum toward 15 billion trees growing and 30% tree cover by 2032.
“Forest and trees are more than landscape they are a lifeline, each tree we plant is a testament of hope and resilient and shared responsibility. Together we are restoring Kenyan promise for sustainable future,” stated Dr Ng’oriareng.
ACT Award Secretariat Chief Executive and Project Lead, Wambui Karobia noted that the programme targets to support tree planting project in Kenya and to turn commitment into a collective award.
Karobia urged Kenyans to support ACT as part of Kenya’s 15 billion tree promise and Africa story of resilience.
KFS Deputy Chief Conservator of the Forest in charge of Natural Forest Conservation Beatrice Mbula stressed the need to create awareness on tree growing and encourages Kenyans to match on to the tree growing initiative.
Kepha Bosire CEO, Leadership and Open Programme, Leadership Group emphasized on the importance of sustainability.
“We can do better, and make Kenya greener,” he said. “If we are sustainable, we are cheaper.”
The ACT Award forum was attended by different organizations and companies. KFS urges Kenyans to safeguard the forest, adopt and restore the xeriscapes so as to strengthen the KFS achievement goal toward 30% tree cover by 2032.
