13 killed, 3 injured in accident along Nakuru-Nairobi highway

According to Nakuru County Police Commander Emmanuel Opuru, they were in a fourteen-passenger vehicle headed to Nakuru when it collided head-on with a semi-trailer truck.

"The matatu was overtaking and then it rammed into the trailer causing 13 fatalities and three others seriously injured," he said. 

"Fatalities have been rushed to Gilgil Sub-county mortuary and the seriously injured have been rushed to Gilgil hospital."

Among those injured are two children.

According to reports, they had hired the matatu from Nairobi to head for a family function.

A probe has been launched to establish more details on the deadly accident.
