Ronaldo and Georgina engaged after years of dating

Georgina Rodríguez and Cristiano Ronaldo are now engaged formally after nearly a decade of dating. 

On Monday, Rodríguez made the announcement in typical celebrity manner by posting a picture on Instagram that drove fans into a frenzy; an extravagant-looking diamond ring in the center of her manicured hand, resting on Ronaldo's.

The couple first met in 2016 and have 2 children together.  Ronaldo frequently referred to Rodriguez as his "wife" even before to the proposal.

It is estimated that the ring could rage between 22 and 30 carats. The sparkler is nothing short of iconic, with an enormous oval-cut diamond flanked by two dazzling side stones.  

It has already been branded one of the most lavish celebrity engagement rings in recent memory, destined to inspire bridal mood boards for years.                  

31-year-old Georgina is an Argentine-Spanish social media personality, model, and entrepreneur.              

Ronaldo presently plays for Al-Nassr, a Saudi Pro League team, in Riyadh.  

In addition to being the highest-paid football player in the world with over 900 scored goals, he is also the most popular user on social media, having amassed over 650 million Instagram followers. 

His firstborn son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., yet another footballing prodigy, just made his debut for Portugal's U-15 national team.
