Njeri Maina: Musician, lawyer and now MP for Kirinyaga County

Audio By Carbonatix
In 2022, Njeri Maina became one of the youngest ever politicians
to be elected to the Kenyan Parliament, when she became the Kirinyaga County
Woman Representative.
Since then, she's gone on to claim her space on the national
stage, particularly by fashioning herself as one of the defenders of the Kenyan
youth in the National Assembly, and also a foot soldier of former Deputy
President Rigathi Gachagua.
Further, the trained barrister has been at the forefront
representing the detained youths from the recent Saba Saba and Gen Z protests
pro-bono, something she says not only gives her satisfaction, but also justice
to the accused youth.
In an exclusive interview with Citizen Digital, Njeri talks
about her time in Parliament so far, her days as a student at the University of
Nairobi, her music career which she intends to revive, and the way forward
ahead of the crunch 2027 General Election.
She also discusses her relationship with Gachagua, the now
Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader, why she will not work with President
William Ruto, and her future plans.
