Women’s BAL qualifiers destiny is 'in our hands', says KPA coach Ojukwu

Head coach Antony Ojukwu knows the fate of the FIBA Zone Five Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA) 2025 Qualifiers is in KPA’s hands, as he urged his players to leave nothing to chance.
The Mombasa-based team, who won silver in 2023, have made a commanding start at the Nyayo Gymnasium.
They opened their campaign with an 81–57 victory, followed by a dominant 94–41 win over Uganda’s Magic Stormers, before shredding Burundi’s Gladiators to pieces with a 100–42 victory in their third Pool A match on Thursday.
“This championship is ours to lose. We aim to play at our best in every game, and I am very impressed with the squad so far. The players have the talent and determination to deliver. Through these matches, we’ve built our chemistry and are growing more confident with each outing,” said coach Ojukwu
The reigning national women’s league champions have demonstrated remarkable depth and versatility, with all 12 players seeing game time.
KPA face APR at 7:30 PM in a highly anticipated clash to determine the Pool A leader ahead of the knockout stage.
The WBLA qualifiers feature eight teams, including hosts KPA and Zetech University. The top two teams will earn a spot in the final round in Cairo, Egypt, this December.
