Former Harambee
Stars head coach Twahir Muhiddin is convinced that Kenyan Premier League[KPL] leaders Gor Mahia will
be unstoppable this term as they bid to reclaim the gong they lost to Kenya
Police.
K’Ogalo have so far
amassed 16 points and are at the league summit, a point behind second-placed
Kakamega Homeboyz thanks to five wins in seven matches.
They have managed
wins against Kenya Police, Mathare United, Posta Rangers, KCB and Sofapaka.
These wins have been preceded by a 0-1 loss to Bidco United.
The acquisition
of Ghanaian head coach Charles Akonnor seems to have injected fresh-tasting
flavour and fighting spirit in the K’Ogalo rooster and Twahir, a veteran of the
game, who has previously handled, among others, AFC Leopards and Bandari, is
backing them for the domestic league glory.
“Gor Mahia, as usual, are always title
contenders and this season they look much stronger. Yes we have other teams
like Kakamega Homeboyz and Nairobi United but it will depend on consistency.
Gor have the
experience and they have been in the equation year in year out,” said Muhiddin.
Muhiddin is on
the other hand ‘disturbed’ to see Tusker struggling to win matches having only
won three out of eight, and are in position five, four points adrift of the
leaders.
“What is
shocking to me is Tusker, the way they have struggled to win their matches. It
has been a tough start for them but they should now start winning matches and
climbing higher on the log standings,” he explained. “If Kakamega Homeboyz
manage to be consistent the way they started the season then it will be very
tough up there for anyone who is aiming to finish top of the league standings
this season including Gor Mahia.”
