Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has warned against attempts
by the opposition to force them to engage in premature and useless politics
saying it is time wasting and counterproductive.
Prof. Kindiki said it is not yet time for political battles
outlining a busy development-filled schedule targeting faster completion of
development projects aimed at improving the lives of the people.
“It is not yet time to engage in premature and useless
politics. Those who are enticing us to politick now are our enemies who don’t
mean well for us. We must refuse their invitation because we have a lot to
deliver including ensuring roads, electricity, markets projects are completed
on time,” the DP declared.
Speaking on Saturday during Maara Constituency Economic
Empowerment Engagement in Chogoria, Tharaka Nithi County, he rebuffed invites
to participate in agenda-less politics but promised a bruising political match
at the right time.
“We have no time for politics. This is the time to build our
country. But when the time comes for politics, we are unmatched experts and we
will deliver an unparalleled competition,” he reiterated.
The second-in-command enumerated several ongoing projects and
those in the pipeline in Tharaka Nithi County, promising the residents to
tirelessly push for their completion on time.
Presently, all the stalled roads in the County have been revived including Chogoria-Weru Road which was abandoned in 2018 and Keria-Kathwana Road.
New roads funded by the Ruto administration are
Katharaka-Kanoro and Mitheru-Kamashuku among others.
“I will make sure all these roads are completed without
further delays. As the Deputy President, I take full responsibility on their
delivery and on the completion of all other projects in Tharaka-Nithi,” the DP
pledged.
The reconstruction of the multi-billion-shilling Nithi Bridge
in the County has begun with the allocation of Ksh.8 billion.
President Ruto had earlier promised redesign and rebuilding of
the bridge blamed for multiple crashes that have claimed hundreds of lives.
“We already have the money for reconstruction of Nithi Bridge. We will build and complete it and the President will be here to launch it," the DP emphasized.
"No one told Moi one term, no one told Kibaki one term, no one told Uhuru one term yet all of them failed to rebuild Nithi Bridge but Ruto is doing it but we are now told he should serve for one term. It won’t happen. He will serve for two terms and will complete the Nithi bridge to save our people from more deadly crashes.”
Prof. Kindiki also said last-mile electricity connection has
been boosted with triple allocation of funds from Ksh.400 million previously to Ksh.1.2 billion allocated to the county this financial year.
Chogoria Modern Market is also nearing completion. The DP said
more markets are underway saying the target is at least six new markets in each
of the three constituencies in the County-Maara, Tharaka and
Chuka-Igambang’ombe.
“We have no reason not to deliver development to the people of
Tharaka Nithi. We will work with all the leaders in the County to complete
ongoing projects as well as pushing for more because we have no reason not to
deliver them,” he noted.
