Police in Nairobi say they are still
investigating the mysterious death of a woman at a building she was working in
Kilimani.
A day after Zaituni Kavaya’s family
received the results of a postmortem indicating she died from blunt force
trauma, a video footage obtained by Citizen Digital paints a clearer
picture of the moments leading up to the incident.
Kavaya is said to have died after
falling from the building, prompting her relatives and the domestic workers'
union to stage a protest on Wednesday, demanding justice.
However, exclusive video footage has
emerged showing what transpired before her death. In the video, a man
wearing a white shirt is seen on the upper fifth floor holding the woman
briefly before letting her go.
She manages to descend to the lower
floor after successfully navigating from the fifth floor. Here, three women
appear to speak to her, but she continues down to the third floor.
At that point, she is seen conversing
with unidentified individuals for a while before the situation appears to
deteriorate.
On the third-floor section of the
building, the woman seems unable to find a place to hold on to, as the area is
enclosed with glass panels.
Exclusive images show the woman
dressed in a blue outfit with red and black blotches.
On Wednesday, Kavaya's family and
domestic workers’ unions marched in the afternoon from Kibera, where she lived,
to Kilimani, the site of her death, later meeting with the Kilimani police
commander to demand answers.
“We have this case, and we are still
investigating. Zaituni will get her justice,” said the Police Commander
Patricia Yegon.
All eyes are now on investigators to
determine what truly happened before Zaituni Kavaya’s death.
